The dated cabin had poor room flow and was not suitable for guest visits. The lake views were closed off by passive solar concrete walls and deteriorated windows.

With the guidance of the design team and the homeowners we reevaluated most of the access in the house.The front entrance was moved to make more room in the kitchen and to make the lower bedroom areas suitable for guest bedrooms. The views of the lake were dramatically enlarged and views are now accessible from most rooms in the home. Most of the mechanical systems were replaced. The home was refitted with energy-efficient windows and doors and a completely new insulation package solved the drafty issues. All of the exterior finishes were replaced to reflect the personality of the owners and provide decades of maintenance-free use in the harsh winter environment.
